Fidel Castro needs Jesus

I know this site won't win me any friends in a lot of places, but I really don't care. The Lord told me to put up this site, so I'll just pass along the message He gave me and let the chips fall where they will.

Cuban dictator Fidel Castro has made a lot of enemies in the past five decades and has ruined the lives of millions of people. I don't think there's much debate on these points. But now he's a politically irrelevant old man who will soon have to give an account to God for the damage he has done.

And here is where I part ways with a lot of Castro's critics for the simple fact that I take seriously what the Bible says not only about sin but also about redemption. Maybe you saw these headlines during the last week of January about how various groups in South Florida have been planning parties for when Castro is confirmed dead. I just about vomited when I read this. My heart breaks for you if you or your family or loved ones have suffered because of Fidel Castro's iron grip on his country. I have cheered every time I've read or heard about people escaping dictatorships, whether in Cuba or North Korea or the former Soviet Union or elsewhere. But regardless of who has oppressed whom in whatever part of the world for whatever length of time, God sent His Son to offer freedom, true freedom, for each of us. Real freedom doesn't depend on anything we face or are subjected to in this world. Real freedom is something only Jesus Christ can give us no matter where we are or what we've been through or what we've done.

This is why I am asking people to pray for Fidel Castro to repent to God for his sins and to find salvation and eternal life through Christ before he dies. It doesn't matter what Fidel or any of the rest of us in this world has done--we have all sinned against God and we are all in need of His forgiveness. (Romans 3:23-27) But God has leveled the playing field and offers forgiveness and redemption through His Son to anyone who asks -- even to Fidel Castro, if Castro were to truly repent to God and to ask for His forgiveness. (John 6:37)

I realize that a lot of you who are reading this would be more than happy to see Castro burn in hell. But God doesn't feel the same way. The Bible says that it's not God's will that ANYONE should be lost, no matter who they are. (2 Peter 3:9; Ezekiel 33:11) It's understandable that a lot of people want Fidel to suffer forever because of the things he has done, but that's neither in our power as humans nor is it God's will. God WILL hold Fidel accountable for the things he has done in this world. But God doesn't want any of us to be lost for eternity, no matter what we've done. That's why He offers us grace through Jesus Christ. And that's why I'm asking each of you who believes the Bible to pray for God to draw Fidel Castro to Himself and that Castro would seek forgiveness and would repent to God. If you're not a follower of Jesus Christ, I can't convince you of the truth and relevance of what I'm saying, and if you ARE a follower of Christ, I shouldn't have to.

Feel free to join in the discussion on this site. I'd like to hear from you.

Thanks for this site. It's great that you're staying true to the Gospel. Even though he has done terrible things God still wants him to come to know Christ. A guy called saul went around killing christians and even said that he was the worst of sinners and yet God even forgave him(1Timothy 1:16). Think and pray about this. God shows grace and came to save sinners not the righteous. Thanks!

Praise God!

Every person to walk this earth was created by God and is His precious possesion that he LOVES with an infinite intensity.

Pray, pray, pray!

As the sick need a doctor, the sinner needs a Savior!

I'm from Costa Rica and I believe what you're doing is important. Not only because it's what God has asked us to do, but also because Fidel needs a chance to repent as every person in this world.
Few years ago, people at my church were praying for a pastor who was going to have the chance to travel in the same plane with president Castro. They had the chance to talk to him about the Gospel and put a Bible in his hands. I think this pastor even prayed for him.
We rejoiced in our church because we believed that God was being merciful to this man, as He has been merciful to all of us who have come to believe in Jesus as our personal savior.
I'll join the prayer. Keep on believing in Fidel's salvation. I once went farther, I think I prayed for former dictator Augusto Pinochet from Chile. If you read the news about him you'll find out that he did a bunch of things. But we'll never know about his salvation untill we're all together in Heaven.
God bless you.

Awesome, this is a true display of the heart of God.

Nice simple deduction. I hope that Castro finds this, or that many will take it seriously.

The only unforgivable sin is a hardened heart (blasphemy of the spirit) So pray Castro's heart is softened so that he will be willing to receive grace which requires total humility and surrender. Thats not in Castro's bag of tricks as far as I know. But next to God Castro has no power but is worth everything.

God Bless You!!!

You're doing a good thing that takes a lot of courage!

It's time we start praying not only for Fidel Castro but, also, for others who are choosing evil instead of good.

There's a special reason why God wanted you to begin this blog--and that is because too many people are starting to become cynical of things such as compassion and rehabilitation, and this has poisoned the atmosphere.

We need to get back to believing in each other once more; being supportive of each other; and ceasing to gloat over the misfortunes of not only our enemies but, also, people who don't deserve meanspirited fingerpointing.

You can count me in when it comes to your prayer chain!

Blessings!
AJ :-)

Redemption is for anyone, Salvation is given free to anyone who believes! God loves Fidel, God loves all the murders in Al-Quaeda and extreme muslim sects. God loves the worst Maffia guys in this world, all the crazy guys on Yakuza. All the outcasts of the world. God's love is simply divine. Jesus died for all people, let's pray that Fidel and anyone may be able to be at the feet of Jesus, ask His forgiveness and be made whole. To Fidel, there's not much time left, let's all pray for him , his family and for the people who follow his ideas. They all need Jesus, the true Jesus, not the mixed up Jesus that they might have heard or believed there in Cuba. The real Jesus of the Gospels!!! Fidel was a great sinner, but Jesus is a GREAT SAVIOR!!!!!

you obviously know nothing about the man except through the American propaganda machine. I challenge you to learn the truth about his life and actions, and the horrible terrorist war the US is waging on Cuba in violation of international law. His crime is not letting US business rape his homeland.

Stick with the facts: Castro is a sinner, just like every other human on the planet. A lot of people are ready to party when Castro dies, an attitude that should nauseate every person who claims to follow Christ. I refuse to get pulled into a political debate--I'd be happy to argue both sides about Castro just to prove the utter futility of such debates--because the issue here isn't one's politics, but what the Bible says about the fact that each of us has sinned, but that God offers forgiveness to anyone who will receive it through Jesus. I really don't care what Castro's past is, since it's subject to endless, useless debate from people of all political persuasions--but I care immensely about his future. That's the purpose of this site. Anything beyond that isn't.

I think what you stand for is truly awesome. There are many people who feel and think like you when it comes to looking through Gods eyes onto other people. We are all his children and I will pray for him to find Christ. I believe that the Lord came directly into your own heart to post this for others to view. I always try and look at the bigger picture when it comes to things of this nature where there are obviously different and repected opinions as you have shared with us already. The bigger picture to me is simply this... we are all sinners...all of us, yet we are all forgiven...all of us. But to truly understand this is to find Christ and know of the severity of his sacrifice on our behalf. I know people have prayed for me like I have prayed for strangers... and that is the single most amazingly private (with no rewardS) thing one can do for another.

I BELEIVE A TRUE PRAYER FOR ANOTHER IN NEED IS A SILENT MIRACLE THAT ACTUALLY SPEAKS SO LOUDLY TO THE LORD.

THANK YOU FOR OPENING MY HEART UP AGAIN TO THE GOODNESS IN OTHERS TODAY!

all sin is detestable to the Lord. we have all fallen short of the glory, and by Gods grace alone we are counted as rightous when we recieve christ, and we enter into salvation forever...amen to that! If all sin is detestable to christ, then what makes our sin any better than his? dont let satan win your heart by hardening it.love the man, HATE the sin!!! be thankful that it is not you who is in his shoes, a true follower would genuinely be grieving for his soul, because a true follower knows where they are going, and where he may end up

Jesus didn't die for Satan. And He told us to pray for our leaders. He didn't give us the option to follow our own opinion on praying for others. Well, we could follow our own opinion, but then we'd suffer the consequences. I think Scripture is clear what we should do.

Mark 11:25-26

25 But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too. 26 But if you refuse to forgive, your Father in heaven will not forgive your sins.

I will pray along with the rest of you for Fidel for we have all fallen short. God Is good! God Bless.

I got this e-mail from Ruthie:
i would like to know why you would pray for a Dictator that killed thousands of people for reason. Fidel Castro isn't a good man right? Please convince me why I should pray for a guy who killed tons of thousands of people.

My reply:
We should pray for Castro because the Bible commands us to pray that unrighteous, wicked people would be saved. Christians are saved by grace alone through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9)--we don't deserve salvation ourselves, so how could we dare say that anyone else doesn't deserve salvation when we ourselves don't deserve it? The bottom line is that we should pray for Castro's salvation because the Bible commands us to. I'm not about to disobey God's Word by NOT praying for Castro.

I got this e-mail from Connie:
I "happened" to go to your website as I wasn't able to sleep tonight. I have known Jesus as my Lord for 36 years, and I haven't come across
anyone who didn't need Him, especially myself. Fidel Castro is lost, but according to the scriptures, Jesus Christ died for his sins, and if Fidel is willing to accept this, and humble himself and accept Christ into his heart, then he will be forgiven of ALL his sins, and go to heaven!!
I heard a pastor teach one Sunday, and he was talking about Jeffery
Dahmer. He said, "We could all be like Jeffery Dahmer, if it weren't for the forgiveness and the shed blood of Jesus Christ!" Are we so arrogant to think that we do not need a savior? Have we forgotten that Jesus said he would cast our sins as far as the east is from the west? Then, whether a man has committed 5 sins or 5 billion
sins, he can be saved if he chooses Christ!

Anonymous said...

Wow, I'm so encouraged and blessed by your desire. Thanks you for your obedience to the Holy Spirit. I do pray Castro would come to a point of true humility and repentance and ask for forgiveness from everyone he has hurt. He may not get everyone's forgiveness but surely his sins have already been paid for at the cross and this act would absolutely glorify God.

I am also proud of you for not stooping low to useless debates or arguments when clearly politics is no longer the issue.

I've heard of many stories of victims of rape, child sexual abuse and other acts of human rights violations where the victims have faced their tormentors and forgiven them. Such acts of forgiveness are only possible once we realize how glorious and precious what we have received from the Lord. After all, we cannot give what we do not have.

I am from the Philippines where our country is struggling with another country for the top spot in the world's list of corrupt nations (and the running joke is: we bribed someone so that we'd be at #2). I speak blessings on my country and yours (wherever you're from) by not speaking against authority but honoring them as this is what the Lord would do if He were here with us (actually, He IS with us). We do our part by standing against the schemes of the evil one through prayer and whatever method God instructs us to do (e.g. put up a pray-for-Castro blog).

I once heard a teaching that had Judas not been filled with shame (which is not of the Lord's but of Satan's) but instead, repented and asked for forgiveness, Jesus would still have forgiven Him. (Look at Peter and the other disciples who ran away). The Old Testament scripture predicted that the Son of Man would be betrayed and this would have come to pass anyway with or without Judas' help so the Lord's Sovereign Will may be fulfilled. I guess what I'm saying is no one can be too far from the merciful and loving arms of God, whether a rapist, child molester, dictator, former disciple or persecutor of Christians.

May His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

May the rest of us burn in hell if we also reject Christ's free, unmerited offer of salvation to anyone who will accept it. (1 John 1:9; Ephesians 2:8-9) If we think we are more worthy of salvation and God's undeserved grace than Castro is, then we really need to check what the Bible really says. Jesus said that He came to save sinners--period. End of discussion. We are all sinners. Jesus offers salvation to each and every one of us. We may not accept His offer of salvation, but He extends it freely to anyone who will receive it. (Luke 5:27-32, 19:1-10)

As a practicing Catholic I can completely understand what you are doing and have to respect you for it. As the daughter of a family who fled Cuba, I hope when he stands before God, he feels the pain of all the lives he was responsible for before judgment is passed and he is sent to hell.

If my instincts serve me right, I believe this man will never repent for anything because he is just evil. He does not and has not ever loved anything in his life, except his ego (not himself) and power.

And as callous as I will sound, I really hope none of the members of my family who have already passed have to see this man once again.

I am also a born again Christian and I was born in Cuba. I do agree with you 100%. Jesus wants us all to be saved. All sin is the same in his eyes and I do hope and pray that he repents and accepts Jesus, BUT, that's his problem. It still doesn't take away from the fact that even though I won't be "partying" when he dies, (or who knows, maybe I will) I will be happy that he is gone from this earth and lets go of CUBA, no matter where he goes.

The Bible makes clear that we will all pay the consequences for the actions we take in this world, but while Fidel and Raul Castro are still alive, there is still hope for them to repent of their sins and accept Christ's forgiveness. I hope that many, many people will continue to pray for salvation for the Castros and for their victims to also find Christ's peace and forgiveness as well.
